The Hands-On Careers series is a great resource for young people who do not want to work in an office but would rather build and repair things, work with animals or grow crops, explore the ocean, help find energy reserves to fuel our nation's vehicles and power grid, or otherwise engage in hands-on work activities. Each title in the series spotlights seven exciting careers (and many subspecialties) that are demanding, sometimes grueling, but rewarding. Educational requirements for these careers range from a high school diploma to some postsecondary training or an apprenticeship to a college degree. Readers will learn about key job duties, the work environment, important skills for success, salaries, the employment outlook, and resources for further career exploration.
