High-Stakes Careers

For some people, a day at work can involve fire, bombs, or other dangers. This series explores eight of these fast-paced jobs. Books describe the risks and tasks each type of work involves, as well as the skills and training people need. Short paragraphs provide easy-to-read text, while vivid photographs make the books engaging and accessible. Each book also includes informative sidebars, a skills checklist, comprehension questions, a glossary, an index, and a list of resources for further reading. These books are part of the Apex Honors imprint, which has a reading level of grades 3-4. However, the imprint is specifically designed for older readers, with interest levels of grades 3-9.
