Sharks: Threatened Ocean Predators

Sharks have lived beneath the world's oceans since the era of the dinosaurs, but in modern times they have been regarded as fierce undersea predators that often attack swimmers, surfers and fishermen. But while attacks on humans do occur those incidents are extremely rare. Instead, it is the sharks that find themselves victims of sport and commercial fishermen, to the extent that now many species of sharks are threatened with extinction.
