New York Liberty

The New York Liberty was founded in 1999 as one of the original eight WNBA teams. The team made a name for itself in the league early on, advancing to the finals in multiple seasons but losing the championship to its opponent each time. For twenty-four years, New York had yet to win the league title despite having some of the best players in basketball--including Brenna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. Coached by Sandy Brondello, the team celebrated a long-awaited victory in 2024. Part of the WNBA series, New York Liberty tells the story of how this women's basketball team almost became champions several times, and how the Liberty finally achieved this goal in 2024.
